NFL Mock Draft (Updated: 4/7)

By: Brandon Wangrin

1. St. Louis Rams- Sam Bradford- Oklahoma- Quarterback: Bradford will be the #1 pick for the St. Louis Rams. He will give them a “face of the franchise” and something to build around.

2. Detroit Lions- Ndamukong Suh– Nebraska- Defensive Tackle: This defense needs size and Suh gives them that. He will apply pressure on the quarterback as well as stop the run.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Gerald McCoy- Oklahoma- Defensive Tackle: I believe they should pick Eric Berry here, but I think they will go with McCoy. They were near the bottom in sacks last year and need to get more pressure on the quarterback. McCoy will start right away.

4. Washington Redskins- Russell Okung- Oklahoma State- Offensive Tackle: Okung is the most talented offensive lineman in the draft. He is “NFL ready”, has a HUGE body, and is good in run and pass protection. Now that the Redskins addressed their issues at quarterback with Donovan McNabb their is no need to draft a quarterback, obviously.

5. Kansas City Chiefs- Eric Berry- Tennessee- Safety: I believe he is the best player in the NFL Draft. He reminds me so much of Ed Reed except he has a little bit more size. He will be a terrific player right away.

6. Seattle Seahawks- Brian Bulaga- Iowa- Offensive Tackle: The Seahawks desperately need a left takle and Bulaga is probably the most polished offensive lineman in the draft even though he is not the most physically gifted. He has quick feet, great hands, and really knows the fundamentals of blocking.

7. Cleveland Browns- Jimmy Clausen- Notre Dame- Quarterback: I dont care what anybody says, Jimmy Clausen will be a very good NFL quarterback. He has the ability to make plays with his feet and arm. He can make all of the throws and has the ability to throw with zip on passes over the middle. He really reminds me of Aaron Rodgers (who people, not me, were skeptical of in the NFL Draft).

8. Oakland Raiders- Earl Thomas- Texas- Safety: I just love Thomas. He proved he has the speed to be a big time play maker at the next level by running a 4.40 forty yard dash at the Combine. He could help the Raiders defense take the next step.

9. Buffalo Bills- Trent Williams- Oklahoma- Offensive Tackle: Big, quick, and gifted offensive takcle. Williams ran a sub 4.8 forty time, which proves he will have a very good first step. He could use a little bit of help in run blocking, but is “NFL ready” day one.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars- Jason Pierre-Paul- South Florida- Defensive End: Freaky defensive end that has a constant motor and a gnat for getting to the quarterback. Even though they added Kampman they could still use another defensive lineman to add depth.

11. Denver Broncos- Dez Bryant- Oklahoma State- Wide Receiver: No question he is the best receiver in the NFL Draft, but he must work on his work ethic. Denver could really use a receiver with Brandon Marshall most likely being traded.

12. Miami Dolphins- Dan Williams- Tennessee- Defensive Tackle: Has the ability to stop the rush and get to the quarterback. The Dolphins need a plug in the middle.

13. San Francisco 49ers- Joe Haden- Florida- Cornerback: I dont care what 40 time he ran, he is still the best cornerback in the NFL Draft.

14. Seattle Seahawks- CJ Spiller- Clemson- Running Back: Seahawks need a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball. I also feel they will get a bruiser in a later round to counter CJ Spiller, who is a speed back.

15. New York Giants- Rolando McClain- .This would be a big time “STEAL” for the Giants. They need an athletic inside linebacker now that Antonio Pierce is gone and McClain is that. He can make all of the plays and really shuts down the run.

16. Tennessee Titans- Derrick Morgan- Georgia Tech- Defensive End: Struggled a little bit at the Combine, but bounced back at his Pro Day in Atlanta. Morgan is big and is two-dimensional. He would fill in excellently for Kyle Vanden Botsch.

17. San Francisco 49ers- Anthony Davis- I am not an offensive lineman guru, but what I have seen from Anthony Davis I like. He is a polished offensive lineman that should be able to start for the 49ers right away.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers- Mike Iupati- Idaho- Offensive Guard: The Steelers want to become more of a run oriented team and Iupati is probably the most talented lineman in the draft. He isnt in the top 10 only because he is a guard and not a tackle.

19. Atlanta Falcons- Taylor Mays- USC- Safety: Now that the Falcons got Dunta Robinson they have no need for a cornerback in the first round. Why not get Taylor Mays? He is big, fast and could change the attitude of this defense.

20. Houston Texans- Kyle Wilson- Boise State- Cornerback: Now that Dunta Robinson is no longer with the Texans the will need a cornerback and Wilson is the shut-down style that they want.

21. Cincinnati Bengals- Jermaine Gresham- Oklahoma- Tight End: The Bengals might have the worst tight end core in the NFL and now that they signed Antonio Bryant they have no need for a receiver here. Gresham is highly talented and would be higher if it werent for injury in ‘09.

22. New England Patriots- Brandon Graham- Michigan- Outside Linebacker: I love Graham. He is extremely good at coming off the edge and has the ability to get to the quarterback very quickly. Bill Belichick needs an OLB and he would be able to start day 1. This would be a big steal.

23. Green Bay Packers- Bruce Campbell- Maryland- Offensive Tackle: Campbell performed very well at the Combine and Green Bay desperately needs an offensive tackle to block fo Aaron Rodgers.

24. Philadelphia Eagles- Everson Griffen- USC- Defensive End: Everson Griffen is big and he can get to the quarterback.

25. Baltimore Ravens- Arrelious Benn- Illinois- Wide Receiver: With Derrick Mason hinting at retirement the past couple of years it would not hur the Ravens to go after a reciever. Benn is a deep play threat that they could really use.

26. Arizona Cardinals- Sergio Kindle- Texas- Outside Linebacker: Surprised Kindle is not higher. This would be a big steal for the Cardinals.

27. Dallas Cowboys- Charles Browns- USC- Offensive Tackle: This is a reach here, but the Cowboys desperately need an offensive tackle with the loss of Flozell Adams and Brown has tons of upside. He is strong, quick, but lacks some fundamentals.

28. San Diego Chargers- Jahvid Best- California- Running Back: The Chargers need an explosive running back and let me tell you Jahvid Best is nasty. He ran a sub 4.35 forty yard dash and has more size than CJ Spiller.

29. New York Jets- Carlos Dunlap- Florida- Defensive End: The Jets could use some help at defensive end. Carlos Dunlap is a steal here simply because teams do not want to take him because of his character issues, not because of skill.

30. Minnesota Vikings- Brian Price- UCLA- Defensive Tackle: Pat Williams may retire and even if he doesnt the Vikes will need a defensive tackle for the next season. I like Arthur Jones out of Syracuse more than Price, but will wait to see Jones’ Pro Day before I move him ahaed of Price.

31. Indianapolis Colts- Arthur Jones- Syracuse- Defensive Tackle: Love his size and explosiveness. I feel he is worthy of a top 15 pick, but many scouts do not believe the same.

32. New Orleans Saints- Eric Norwood- South Carolina- Ouside Linebacker: Norwood is a football player and has too much speed for his game to not translate to the NFL. He will be a pro bowler in years to come.
